China for Muslim tourists
My trip to China was the first time that I specifically looked for an Islamic tour operator in the country I was travelling to – mainly due to the complex Chinese cuisine and the language barriers there. After much research, and deliberation – we decided to go with IslamiChina. We had a few minor issues but overall I would definitely recommend them.
IslamiChina was started by a Muslim man. The guides were not Muslim though. We were told that it was difficult to find trained Muslim English speaking tour guides in China. However they were well aware of our requirements and had strict instructions as to which halaal restaurants to take us to. They also took us to masjids for Dhuhr salaah which we may not have found on our own.
I was surprised to learn that there were so many Muslims in China. In fact, some provinces there, like the Ningxia province are almost entirely Muslim. It follows then, that there are many masjids and plenty of halaal food available. You can read more about Islam in China and Chinese Muslims and find halaal food in China on on IslamiChina’s website.
